COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
is a talking therapy, mostly used for mood disorders or different types of challenging behavior. The focus is on the current moment and the maladaptive versions of our Self-image and the way we feel (feeling), experience (emotion), think (thoughts) and act (behavior). This approach believes that our thoughts, physical sensations and emotions are connected in a vicious cycle and any types of symptomatic is connected with rules, thinking patterns and way of reacting that we experience about ourselves, the others and the world. Working with those thoughts and rules for living and changing them into more positive ones is one of the aims in the therapy.
PERSON CENTERED OR CLIENT CENTERED THERAPY
is a humanistic approach who explains how the person perceives himself, what types or personality characteristics, traits, values and qualities one has and how to develop and achieve ones full potential. The aim is to connect with the inner resources and to find a way of self-actualization and self- growth.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy used mostly for borderline personality disorder, but also for other clusters of personality disorders and for treatment of different types of mental health issues. This approach is very useful for people with intensive and incongruous emotions and impulses and helps to accept the way the person is, learning how to react to the environment in a more healthier way and how to control those impulses
SYSTEMIC APPROACH or sometimes also FAMILY THERAPY
is a model that examines the whole family as a system in which everybody is connected with each other. The focus is not on the individual or on his personal issues, but on the whole family, understanding the difficulties in a contextual framework. This helps to became a more deeper view of the functioning of the family, their communication styles, their strengths and weaknesses and builds a stronger connection between them, especially in cases of crises, conflict issues, problem resolving and developing of new models of interaction as a system.
is a long term therapy with focus on the past and on the unconscious context of the behavior, thoughts, emotions and mood. The difference between this approach and the other talking therapies is that it has much more deeper analysis of the inner world and the representations of it in the past and present issues, values, personal characteristics, defending mechanisms and difficulties. Analyzing the clients dreams, his associations, symbolic world, archetypes, creative activities such as listening to music, dream journaling, painting, playing etc. can be useful for understanding the deeper unresolved issues and to make a positive change in their live.
SOLUTION FOCUSED THERAPY
is a brief therapy focused not on the issues and problems, but on their solution. This is a goal-cantered therapy orientated on the future. It is built on the current aims and their solutions based on different types of questions used as a brainstorming method and their scaling valuation by the client. Observations on the personal thoughts, actions and feelings is essential, so that the focus and attention is on the solution and the better functioning.
is a mental state with focus on the current moment and awareness of the surrounding inner and outer reality. The aim is to be aware of what is happening “here and now”, of who you are, where you are and what you do in the present moment. This helps to accept ones feelings, emotions and thoughts and makes us understand and accept ourselves better in a calmer and relaxed way.
Common conditions :
1 in 4 people in the UK is experiencing at least one episode of depression during their life span. Major depression can lead to suicidal thoughts and behaviour and can be very dangerous! ANXIETY – Anxiety or GAD (Generalized Anxiety disorder)
is a common issue and provokes the “fight and flight” response of the body when the person feels overwhelmed with fear, restlessness, worry or irritability. It can also provoke different physical symptoms like dizziness, excessive sweating or high blood pressure. Different types of phobias – from animals, people, different objects, open spaces etc. could trigger the anxiety levels and could provoke panic attacks which can have serious impact on the physical health.
Feelings of frustration, disappointment, misunderstanding, personal failure or intensive stress can provoke negative thoughts about the Self and the others and can result in anger issues. Sometimes mixed with symptoms of depression or anxiety, anger can lead to inner (self-harming) and/or outer (challenging behaviour) acts of different types of aggression.
BAD (Bipolar Affective Disorder)
can be described as mood swings and intensive feelings of sadness, loneliness, solitude, reticence and lack of energy and willingness to participate in different tasks and feelings of irritability, restlessness, racing thoughts and increased energy, excitement and sex drive. Those symptoms can be extreme high (mania symptoms) to extreme low (symptoms of depression) and lead to irrational believes and psychotic episodes.
PTSD – PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder)
is a type of anxiety disorder caused by a very stressful, terrifying or frightening traumatic event, experienced in the thoughts, feelings and emotions again and characterized by persistent flashbacks, nightmares or re-living the traumatic moment. This is anxiety provoking and can lead to physical changes like high blood pressure, irritability, faster heart beat and confusion, concentration and focus issues.
Is a generalized term for any type of domestic, physical, psychical or sexual assault. Violence can be experienced by any gender, age, religion and sexual orientation and it is a criminal offence! If you find yourself or know someone who is in a abusive relationship, you should get help from the community, legal services, hotlines or depending on where you live – safe home and centre.
OCD – OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)
is characterized with impulsive reparative thoughts and behavior, most of the times focused on one’s personal hygiene or safety. People with OCD have daily routine of rituals that are predominately carried when the anxiety provoking compulsion (act) or obsession (thought) is experienced. Those impulses, images, thoughts even if irrational, cannot be controlled or neutralized and the person need to do certain acts or repetitive behaviours to stop them. Some of them could be praying, counting, hand washing, ordering, checking, repeating words/numbers silently.

Financial issues, cultural differences, emotional distress or any types of crisis in the family can lead to relationship problems, when people are expressing frustration and dissatisfaction from their relationship and partner.
there are different types of eating issues and sometimes all of us had experienced one or more of them. Eating less or too much is something that each of us is doing occasionally. But when it comes to changes in the body image, in the behavior and in drastic physical changes then most likely this person is dealing with an eating disorder.
